Synopsis
In 1976, disillusioned British teacher Tom Michell (Steve Coogan) takes a position at an exclusive boys’ boarding school in Argentina, seeking a fresh start. During a trip to Uruguay, he rescues a Magellanic penguin from an oil spill and names it Juan Salvador. Despite school policies prohibiting pets, Tom brings the penguin back, and it becomes an unexpected companion.
As Tom navigates the challenges of teaching and the country’s political unrest, his bond with Juan Salvador helps him connect with his students and colleagues.
